The gardening section of earthSOS will one day be a resource for gardening in all its facets for many areas of the world.

As this section grows we will be re-organizing and making it a searchable database for vegetables, herbs, and demographic location to try and assist all in learning more about food and how easy and rewarding urban gardening is.

Gardening can be rewarding in many ways and one of them is the fact that you have not only prepared the food you are about to eat but grown it as well - a very pleasing feeling. Another great thing about it is the taste. Considering the fact that we do have to eat everyday, we should make sure that what we eat is both healthy and tastes good, and truly fresh vegetables are delicious.

Yet another great benefit is getting back in touch with the earth and learning about growing. After planting a garden and tending it for a year you won't be a person whose houseplants die on them anymore.

You can get to know your neighbours better by possibly planning to share the different vegetables you grow. It would be quite a garden if it had everything you wanted. The last major benefit we are listing here is the money savings, growing from seed makes it very cheap and plants bought from nurseries are only around a couple of dollars.

So please enjoy the basic garden information we have here to show you and please start sending any pictures or idea's or input you have. What we have here to show you is usable summarized information we have sourced from many gardening websites and books. What we have currently is the places one can grow in today's urban mix of houses, townhouses, condo's and apartments. We have also included what you can grow with planting time, sowing time, and attributes of the vegetable or herb, as well as how to grow a garden and information on designing a garden. For those people who are gardeners all this information will be very old but for others you will see how easy it is to do.
