Compact fluorescent light (CFL's)
An energy efficient light bulb that uses 75% less energy than a standard incandescent bulb to produce the same amount of light.
Ducts
Carries air from the central heater or air conditioner to each part of the home and back again.
Energy factor (EF)
The measure of water heaters efficiency.
Energy saver switch
A switch that controls the on/off of a small heater in a refrigerator which prevents condensation from forming on the outside of the fridge.
Energy star label
Government-backed program helping businesses and individuals protect the environment through
Superior energy efficiency
The Energy Star indicates appliances that use less energy, save money, and help the environment.
Floor grills
Traditional cover for an outlet of a central heating system.
Hard water
Water with too much calcium and magnesium in it.
HPWH
Heat pump water heater.
Linear fluorescent
Long tube looking energy efficient light that is less than an inch in diameter that lights up a relatively large area. Requires special ballast.
Touchier fixtures
Energy efficient lights that use approximately 70% less energy than halogen lamps to produce more light. |
